Summary
This book is about a boy named Jesse Aarons and a girl named Leslie Burke. In the story, there is a house that usually people move into, but then quickly leave. This time the Burke’s move in and they have a daughter who is Leslie. Leslie and Jesse go to school together, and although Jesse isn’t fond of Leslie at forts, they become really good friends. At the woods where they live, they find a tree with a rope tied to it and there’s a river next to the tree. They create a world of their own, and it’s their secret. Leslie and Jesse are the king and queen of Terabithia as they call it. They usually go there almost all the time after school, but then the rainy season comes. That doesn’t stop them though, although Jesse is scared, since Leslie isn’t he does not say anything. One day Jesse goes to the museum with his favorite teacher and does not invite Leslie. When he is back at home, he finds out some devastating news. He does not take the news well, but in the end he accepts things for how they are and makes a bridge for his little sister to be queen of Terabithia.
