Summary
This book is about two boys named Josh and Aaron who lived by a river with their family in a big yellow house. They would sit on their porch and make up stories about the river. One day they decided to ask their grandfather if he could take them on a camping trip since he loved the river and had lived near it almost all his life. They journeyed through the mountains and when it was noon they stopped to set camp. They bathed in the river and got to hear stories from their grandfather around a campfire. The next day they continued to walk, until finally they reached where the river began, and then started back. They finally made it home and their grandfather watched the river flowing into the sea like it always had.
Evaluation
I would use the book in class as a read aloud, and use it to connect it to the concept of nature. I would use it to ask if any of the students have gone camping before, or if they do things like that with their grandfather. I would use the book to teach the students that some rivers are naturally made, while others are man made. The illustrations in the book are really amazing and detailed. The scenery in them looks beautiful and made me want to be where they were at. They're big as well and colorful which would be good for the students who sit in the back.
