The book "Dinothesaurus" by Douglas Florian, is a collection of poems written by him, that give details about dinosaurs in a humorous way. The titles of the poems are the names of the dinosaur that he is writing about. They are very simple, funny, and nice little poems about dinosaurs. The genre of this book is poetry. The main theme of this collection, is about dinosaurs. Just like it is mentioned in the title, the collection is a thesaurus about dinosaurs. The illustrations in this book are pictures of the dinosaur and has some background details that are mentioned in the poem. The illustrations are done by Douglas Florian himself. One of the poems in the book is about the dinosaur called the Stegosaurus. The title of the poem is Stegosaurus and it mentions how the Stegosaurus is a herbivore, and how it's brain was smaller than a plum. I do not really think I would use the book in class, because it's poems about dinosaurs and not really something that can be informational or introduce a topic, but maybe I would have it in the reading corner as a book that the kids can read. The appropriate grade level for the book would be first grade. I do not think that the book could really be used to teach anything. It is mostly a book for enjoyment, and for those who like dinosaurs.
