Traditional literature blog

One last traditional book that I read was A River Ran Wild by Lynne Cherry. This book is about how there was this river that all these animals made a home in. Then Native Americans came upon the river and settled by it. As time passed a trader came and they welcomed him. Before they knew it their village grew, but the settlers disrupted the way of the Indian's. This caused problems and war broke out, but the settlers drove the Indian's out. Once the settlers started their new country, all the machines and factories polluted the Nashua river. The river was dead and still, but some descendants, decided to protest about how the river was nasty and stinky. This then caused for a law to be passed for there to be no pollution, and slowly the river began to become clean again. I would most definitely use this book in class, because it talks about pollution, and it teaches a good lesson. This appropriate grade level for the book is kindergarten and first grade. This book could be used when it comes to teaching about the environment and pollution. It could also be used when it comes to teaching history. It is a good read aloud book, and it teaches students that pollution is not good for the environment. This is a great book which can be used to teach about how we pollute the world, and that we have to take care of our environment. I would use this book in the classroom to show students that something can be done about the environment being polluted. I would also use this as an opportunity to teach them a little bit about history.
